Relations with Government: Effective Governmental Relations

Speaker Bio:
Steve Ovel serves as Executive Director of Governmental Relations for Kirkwood Community College. During his twenty years at Kirkwood, he has provided administrative leadership in the areas of development and foundations, community relations, economic development, grants, assistant to the president and governmental relations. He was responsible for developing the college's economic development services division in 1985. He has served on numerous local, regional and statewide economic and workforce development boards and committees. He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Iowa Department of Workforce Development. For the past eleven years, Steve has served the Iowa Community College system as a lobbyist before the Iowa Legislature specializing in job training, workforce and economic development, corrections and telecommunications issues.
